About us

SAVI Northwest (Sports and Activities for the Visually Impaired) is a club organisation based in Merseyside. SAVI was established in January 2009 by visually impaired people for visually impaired people.

We aim to:

  • Develop, deliver and promote inclusive sports and activities bespoke to the needs of blind and partially sighted people.
  • Increase participation of blind and partially sighted people in sports and activities.
  • Improve health and wellbeing of blind and partially sighted people.
  • Harness lived experience to champion role modelling and peer support
  • Create pathways to enable inderviduals to achieve their full potential.
  • Offer wider social benefits in a range of environments.

Since forming in 2009, we have set up a number of clubs, teams and sport sessions including Merseyside Blind Football Club in 2012, Wavertree Visually Impaired Cricket Team in 2015, Mersey Sharks Goalball team in 2018 and the Blind Trojans Baseball team in 2022.

We have continued to deliver our core multi sports session on a weekly basis. At which we deliver a number of sports including Baseball, Boccia, Cricket, Curling, Football, Goalball, Hockey and Tennis.

Why not watch our video of three of our members, hitting baseballs before their trip to Italy.
